* * * Omnifera Wings of Desire Barachiel review * * *
„omnifer, omnifera, omniferum (latin) – adj., carrying around, bearing with everything“ – Omnifera must be one of my favourite brand names because it captures babywearing so perfectly, and I’ve been lucky enough to play with this one, called Wings of Desire Barachiel, for a few weeks. The release is due soon so – here’s a review!
Barachiel is a super fresh, lemon/lime coloured triblend of Supima cotton, extrafine merino and Mulberry silk. These materials on their own are not joking around, as you know, and in the hands of Omnifera they result in a splendidly soft wrap with cush and cush and more cush.
So, however well this one works in a sloppy ruck (believe me, I tried a few!) it really shines when you give it some loving attention and do your strand-by-strand tightening homework. It’s a very smooth wrap, the pattern doesn’t add much grip but everything sort of just flows into place, which is perfect for learning new carries and getting the final adjustments right on a carry you’ve been struggling with. (On these pictures I did a (new?) variation of what I guess could be called a Half Charlie’s cross carry with ruck straps, or something along those lines.) In spite of the glide, it stays in place surprisingly well and I didn’t need to retighten. The cush is suuuper good, even when you just bunch the shoulder straps together and it’s a very forgiving friend, this Barachiel. It has some stretch, which makes tightening pretty easy, but the thing that strikes me is really the smoothness and softness.
